Poland visa based on a voivode’s work permit
“Voivodeship visa” is an informal name for a national D visa supported by a work permit. It is not a separate 36-month visa: work permit validity and visa validity are different.

Purpose and eligibility
Even when a work permit covers several years, a D visa is valid for no more than one year. The permit supports employment; the immigration document supports lawful stay. Check the employer, position and conditions, as changing jobs may require a new permit or another procedure.
Documents to prepare

- Passport and evidence of lawful residence in the country where you apply.
- Application form, photograph and payment confirmations required by the receiving authority.
- Evidence of the purpose of travel, funding, accommodation and insurance required for your procedure.
- Work permit identifying the employer, job and validity period.
- Evidence of the planned employment and confirmation that its stated basis remains valid.

Frequently asked questions
Does Poland issue a 36-month visa?
A national D visa is issued for a maximum of one year. A period of several years may relate to a different document, such as a work permit, but not the visa itself.
My work permit outlasts my visa. Can I stay?
A work permit does not extend your stay by itself. You need a separate lawful basis to continue staying before your permitted period ends.
