Czech short-term work visa: up to 90 days

Purpose and eligibility
A short-stay C visa is subject to the Schengen limit of up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Depending on nationality and status, a work permit or an exemption may apply. Free labour market access does not automatically remove entry and residence requirements.
Documents to prepare
This preparation checklist is indicative. Final requirements depend on nationality, status and application location; follow the competent authority’s instructions.
- Passport and evidence of lawful residence in the country where you apply.
- Application form, photograph and payment confirmations required by the receiving authority.
- Evidence of the purpose of travel, funding, accommodation and insurance required for your procedure.
- Employment agreement or evidence of a genuine job offer with dates and workplace.
- Work permit where required or evidence of an applicable exemption.
- Itinerary, accommodation and insurance under the current consular checklist.

- Check that names, dates, addresses and the purpose of travel agree across all documents.
- Follow the official appointment, submission and biometric procedures; retain confirmations and your application reference.

Government fees, translations, insurance and document preparation services are separate costs where applicable. Neither an issue date nor a favourable decision can be guaranteed.
Frequently asked questions
Can I enter as a tourist and start working?
Do not assume so. Czech short-stay entry rules for gainful employment differ from ordinary tourist travel rules.
What if the job lasts more than 90 days?
An appropriate long-term procedure is needed, such as an Employee Card or an eligible seasonal visa. Extending a contract does not itself extend a C visa.
